SCBA Certified Technician II

This course is conducted exclusively by full time 3M Scott Fire & Safety personnel to meet the requirements of OSHA 1910.134. (Specific References listed below)

The 3M Scott Air-Pak SCBA Certified Technician II program is a combined air supplied course which includes all 3M Scott Industrial and Fire Service respirators. The Air-Pak SCBA Certified Technician II course is offered at the 3M Scott Facility located in Monroe, NC and regional locations throughout the United States and Canada. After successful completion of the 3M Scott Air-Pak SCBA Certified Technician II course the technician is authorized to perform complete overhaul level repairs on all 3M Scott respirators. This training includes written and hands-on instruction. Students learn how to properly inspect, disassemble, assemble, test, troubleshoot and repair 3M Scott Air-Pak SCBA.

  • A Registration may be required for this course. Please refer to 3M Scott Fire & Safety document STC 10006 for specific requirements and payment information.


Prerequisites

  • Technicians requesting enrolment in this program must have a valid SCBA Certified Technician I Certificate.


Facility Information

  • 3M Scott Fire & Safety is a tobacco and vaping free campus.
  • Short pants, open toed shoes and sleeveless shirts are not permitted in the facility.
  • If you wear prescription safety glasses please bring them with you to class.


OSHA References

  • OSHA 1910.134(h)(4)(i): Repairs or adjustments to respirators are to be made only by persons appropriately trained to perform such operations and shall use only the respirator manufacturer's NIOSH-approved parts designed for the respirator.

  • OSHA 1910.134(h)(4)(ii): Repairs shall be made according to the manufacturer's recommendations and specifications for the type and extent of repairs to be performed.

  • OSHA 1910.134(h)(4)(iii): Reducing and admission valves, regulators, and alarms shall be adjusted or repaired only by the manufacturer, or a technician trained by the manufacturer.
